AMERICAN IDIOT Garners 12 SF Critics Circle Noms.
3/9/2010 - This year's Critics Circle Awards, sponsored by Actor's Equity Association, today announced is nominees for excellence in San Francisco Bay area theater. Berkeley Rep's production of American Idiot, which played in the fall of 2009, leads with 12 nominations and will open on Broadway this spring.

THE MIRACLE WORKER Not Closing Yet
3/9/2010 - The New York Times is reporting that despite a statement last Friday made by producers of Broadway's THE MIRACLE WORKER in which it was expressed that the show was in danger of closing early, producer David Richenthal has indicated that ticket sales will continue for now.

Signature Honors Sondheim w/ Weekend of Free Events
3/9/2010 - On March 20 and 21, The Signature Theatre will celebrate the life and work of composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim, the man who has transformed the face of American musical theater with works such as A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Company, Follies, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Sunday in the Park with George. Sondheim turns 80 on March 22, and since he's Signature's "signature" composer, the theater company will honor him with a full weekend of free events including lobby performances, backstage tours, films, lectures, actor discussions, a critic forum, a sing-along, and a birthday cake. The schedule for the Signature's Sondheim Birthday Weekend is Saturday, March 20 from 12 - 7pm and Sunday, March 20 from12:45 - 10pm.

GLEE Now to air 9:30pm 4/13 to Accommodate Idol Finale
3/9/2010 - As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the cast of the FOX series hit GLEE is kicking off its live tour in May, with dates slated for Los Angeles, Chicago, Phoenix and New York. Today, it has been revealed that fourth New York City performance date at New York City's Radio City Music Hall is planned for Sunday, May 30 at 8PM.

Lee, Wolsky et al. to be Honored at 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards, 4/23
3/9/2010 - Legendary costume designer ALBERT WOLSKY and world renowned scenic designer MING CHO LEE are among the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 23 at 6:30pm at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Two-time Academy Award-winner Albert Wolsky will receive the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer and educator Ming Cho Lee will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

Kander and Ebb's THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS Extends Thru April 18
3/9/2010 - The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15 Street) has announced an additional two weeks will go on sale today for the world-premiere of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS: starting Tuesday, March 9, seats for the musical will be on sale through April 18. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS was previously scheduled to run through April 4. Now in previews, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS has its official opening night on March 10.
